Dr. Kyu Seung celebrates 40-years as a sole practitioner
In this blog series, we recognize the CAA 2022 long service award recipients. Learn more about them and the words of wisdom they have to offer.
Dr. Kyu Seung has a keen interest in natural health. As a student at the University of Ottawa, he became interested in natural ways of healing. A graduate of Palmer (Central) Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa, in 1980, Dr. Seung worked in Red Deer for 15 years, and for the past 26 years, as a sole practitioner at the 211 Tawa Chiropractic Centre in Edmonton. In 2018, his son, Jerri joined him in his practice.
Dr. Seung says that experience in the field is the best teacher. One of the first things he focuses on with his patients is the upper cervical spine. Once he finds the problem, he provides the appropriate care, and his patients see great results.
What brings you joy?
We are here to serve one another. When I see people suffering and they have tried everything, when they see the good results from chiropractic care, that makes me happy.
How has diagnostic imaging helped you in your practice?
Seeing is believing. I use x-rays to diagnose my patients as you can actually see from the inside out. New practitioners need all the tools they can get, and diagnostic imaging is one of the tools they can use to provide a proper diagnosis.
How do you unwind at the end of the day?
I usually work from nine to six, and look forward to going home and having dinner together as a family.
What is your hope for future chiropractors?
To heal our patients without drugs or surgery. Chiropractors are natural healers.
