We’ve all been there, that moment when you realize you just have to … listen to your body.

You wouldn’t try to hold off for just one more day if you had to go to the washroom, would you?

And you certainly wouldn’t wait a week to see if you just didn’t feel tired any more, right?

So why wait when you injure yourself or wake up in pain?

These everyday situations happen to us all. We all need to sleep, and we all … well, you get the idea. So why do we think we should ignore pain and put off seeing a chiropractor when we injure our back or wake up knowing something just isn’t right?

Pain is usually the way our body tells us that something is wrong. Each year more than 11 million Canadians suffer from at least one musculoskeletal (MSK) condition.[1] Low back pain and other MSK conditions account for one-third of missed work in Canada − second only to the common cold.

According to a national survey, 42% of Canadians have suffered from four or more MSK issues within the last year. The leading concerns were:

  • back pain and stiffness (53%)
  • headaches and migraines (44%)
  • neck pain (35%)
  • joint pain (35%)

The good news is that doctors of chiropractic are spine care experts who are specifically trained to diagnose, treat and help prevent these (and other) MSK disorders and injuries. A visit to a chiropractor can help you feel, move and live better sooner.

So, the next time you “target the nearest toilet” or “float on off into dreamland” think about the other ways your body talks to you … and think about it. It might just being saying you should see a chiropractor.

Help us build a culture of body listeners. See your chiropractor.
